Why we have implemented Pilates for our Fit Over 50’s Program

You may or may not have seen we have began Pilates classes at Movement District Edgecliff. We have started this as an added service for all members however particularly for clients whom are over the age of 50 and/or people who are looking for a combination both strength and pilates

Whilst strength and corrective exercises are the staple forms of exercise for maintaining physical independance and pilates does an extraordinary job of engaging the core whilst not over exerting surrounding joints

As opposed to Yoga, Pilates encourages spine neutrality through engaging the Core, Glutes and Back muscles without entering potentially harmful positions for members with disc and spine injuries.
